Sauerkraut
It is finely cut white cabbage. Cooked sauerkraut is often flavoured with juniper berries, caraway seed or apples. White wine is added in popular variations. Traditionally it is served warm with roast pork. Smoked or fried sausages and black pudding, accompanied typically by roasted or steamed potatoes or dumplings. Similar recipes are common in other Central European cuisines.
